Gabrielle joined Proximity London from our Paris office in June 2012 and, after 3 years as Managing Director, became CEO in 2016. Gabrielle has led the work on our new agency positioning and works hand in hand with John Treacy (ECD) to continuously drive fabulous creative output. Aside from her management duties, Gabrielle is also core to our new business team which in the last 14 months has secured 19 pitch wins.
Within three years of starting her career at FullSIX and SixandCo (now Grand Union), Gabrielle was leading the Procter & Gamble account globally and responsible for bringing nearly all their beauty brands into the digital world. After many happy years working on gems such as Olay, Pantene, Vicks and Max Factor she moved to Proximity Paris as the Digital Lead on Gillette for WE and CEEMEA, becoming Deputy Managing Director in 2010. During her time there, Gabrielle successfully brought in the Kraft Foods account which she still leads to this day.
Gabrielle’s real obsession is Aikido. Having practiced for 14 years, she even took a three-month sabbatical to train full time in Paris with her favourite teacher before her black belt exam – we don’t like to disagree with her here!
Originally a freelance designer, John honed his creative skills at Grey Direct and Joshua, before moving on to a senior position at AIS. The ten years he then spent at Elvis as ECD are the stuff of legend. His integrated approach and innovative thinking won award after award at Cannes, the DMAs, D&AD and The One Show as well as Agency of the Year on no less than 6 occasions. Campaign has placed him as one of their top ten Creative Directors for five years in a row and he has enjoyed great long term relationships with clients such as Virgin Trains, Sky, Premier Foods and Red Bull.
John’s love of surfing takes him from the beaches of North Cornwall down to the sunshine of Morocco. His other passion is Tottenham Hotspur, although these days you’re just as likely to find him at Selhurst Park where he takes his niece to watch Crystal Palace. He used to play himself and, although he modestly denies this, was something of a star in goal. John also loves writing screen plays in his spare time. “Really bad ones,” he hastens to add.

As COO, Andrew is responsible for all elements of Proximity’s operational health today and in the future, as well as playing a core role in defining the agency culture, positioning and talent management. Having joined the company in 2008 to run the Volkswagen account, Andrew now heads up the 80-strong Client Service department; as well as involvement in new business development, and running key accounts – SSE, John Lewis and P&G.
Since joining the agency world in 2000, Andrew has worked across many sectors from automotive and FMCG, to retail and utilities. He’s worked on three of the biggest automotive brands in Europe: Mercedes-Benz and Lexus at smaller independent agencies before ultimately joining the big network boys to run Volkswagen. His two client-side secondments, at Avis and Sky, taught him a real appreciation of the pressures faced by clients which strongly influenced his approach to the Client Service role at Proximity. Career highlights include several high profile pitch wins including Sky, John Lewis and SSE.
With two young sons at home, most of Andrew’s time is spent building Lego, breaking Lego, then building Lego again!
