Great Things Start With Netflix

Glassworks’ latest collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam is the agency’s first campaign for Netflix… and what a start.

“Big Questions” is a film that masters the most delicate of subtleties, showing us how our lives can be enhanced by watching quality entertainment, whilst managing to constantly pull it’s own leg.

Biscuit’s Aaron Stoller has taken the agency’s masterful script and run with it. The sincerity of the acting is in hilarious harmony with the gravity of the Big Questions, whilst the surprising Netflix moments illustrated in increasingly playful ways.

The film does it all with a huge smile on its face. We had a great time working with W+K and Biscuit on the post. From Scott Harris’ grade to the compositing and clean-up work, the real fun began with the creation of the alien characters. Our lead 3d artist Simon Glas was briefed to design a race of aliens who were “the misfits of the galaxy and in search of a leader”. For the first few weeks he worked closely with Aaron and the creatives, sketching various options until they finalised on a design which Simon and the 3d team went on to build, texture and animate.

The aliens visualise just one of a series of potential scenarios, boldly daring us to share our entertainment, whilst surrendering to our imaginations; the perfect escapism.
