Football is at the heart of Twitter. It’s the home of the football conversation, especially this year with two major international tournaments taking place: the Qatar World Cup and the Women’s Euros.

That’s why the brand created a unique film that focuses on what makes Twitter special when it comes to football: it’s the place where players, coaches, journalists, and football lovers can discuss, read, support, and talk about everything around the game on a level playing field.

And who better to highlight this and narrate the ongoing football conversation on Twitter than iconic TV football commentator Clive Tyldesley (@CliveTyldesley)?

But, this time, @CliveTyldesley, who spent more than 20-years commentating for TV, isn’t commenting on what's happening on the pitch. He’s lending his top-flight commentary skills to showcase the football conversation on Twitter.

For Clive @CliveTyldesley, who has more than 100K followers on the platform, Twitter is the place to go-to for football:

‘Watching football on television is a two-screen experience these days. Everyone’s got a platform where they can voice an opinion. Twitter is the go-to platform for most football fans. You can not only interact with friends but with famous people too. The great football debates happen on Twitter, and everybody can join in and have their say.’

It is not only the great debates, says @CliveTyldesley. Twitter is also a great equaliser when it comes to football:

‘I may be commentating on a major final to millions, but on Twitter, anyone can become part of the narrative in just a few taps. It's where the biggest football crowds gather to watch and enjoy the greatest matches together.’

To create this film, Twitter worked with advertising agency DAVID Madrid and production company Landia, filming in the Zaragoza stadium in Spain.

Twitter’s campaign aims to show brands that Twitter is the place where they can speak to every single person that loves the beautiful game. It’s where fans share their excitement about forthcoming games, players, the freshest football news, joy of goals scored and matches won, commiserations for games lost, and the best post-match memes and jokes.

The figures speak for themselves, if you want to be where people are talking about football, Twitter is the right place to be:

Football conversation is bigger than ever on Twitter in 2022, with 75% of people on Twitter in the UK regularly watching or interested in football. Add to that the huge 45% increase in global football conversation this year to start to understand what the game means to so many people on Twitter. It’s why as many as 66% of people say that Twitter helps them connect to their tribe and get closer to big events like the UEFA Women's EURO and the 2022 World Cup.
