História “In celebration of the 100th anniversary, Citroën wanted to finally do justice to the German pronunciation of its brand – which is commonly and wrongly pronounced “Zitrön” in these parts”, says Eric Schoeffler, CCO Havas Germany and ECD Europe. “We Germans are weirdly known for “Germanizing” foreign language words until they become collective pronunciation truths. It’s a truly special relationship between the brand and the Germans ever since.” Numerous German media as well as many other brands and even competitors already responded to the sensational rebranding announcement of the Frenchmen or congratulated with a very German “Schapo!” [Chapeau]. Even the popular and international Internet Community reddit discussed eagerly the break of tradition.
