Carl Mandelbaum

Mandelbaum's work seeks to balance across a rift between culture and nature. He equates culture with industrialism, and nature with the organic. Information is presented then remixed into succinct economic analogues for infinity. When listening to one of Carl's mixes, rhythms are absorbed and sensed first, then a connection to text or language follows. While reshaping an endless available stream of products from the developing and industrial worlds, he has gone beyond his earlier work by linking the cultural, organic and industrial, through their underlying confluence of pattern. Repetition becomes the unifying energy, much like the drone of a bee, or the relatively dependable petals of a daisy.
