Strawberry Films Directors

Péter Bergendy

Péter Bergendy got his first camera - a Normal 8mm - from his grandfather at the age of six. From that moment film became part of his life.
Originally graduated as psychologist, where he wrote his thesis on horror film pschology. For ten years he was the chief editor of the german Cinema Magazine, he worked as academic researcher for the Hungarian Film Institute, also as a film distributor as well as radio and TV magazine editor.
As a director, his first feature film, a romantic comedy - Stop Mother Teresa! - was released in 2004 achieving national and international recognition for him. His latest work, a cold war spy film noir 'The Exam' has won New Directors Gold Hugo, in Chicago International Film Festival 2012. Currently Peter is developing his next feature film - apparently the first hungarian horror ever made.
For 20 years now he's been ditched in Hungarian and international commercial directing, his multiple award winning commercials are shown across the world.
He is a natural storyteller, has a cinematic approach to heuristically convey emotions and develop sincere connections to his subjects.

Danila Kostil

Danila Kostil was born in Tashkent, USSR, in a house always full of people and children. With his brother, Luka, they played live puppet theater shows and other performances. After the family moved to Hungary, he experienced having problems adapting to one of the world's most oddish languages - Hungarian. But, instead of further flouncing grammatic issues, he managed to develop a unique visual language.
He graduated at MOME, Hungarian University of Applied Arts and Design from the Film and Media Design Faculty.
Since that he's done a number of music videos and commercials, also a cutting edge feature film 'Kulocity'. All strongly characterized by his unique and versatile visual approach and his incredible technical background which allows him to excel in using a wide scale of different motion picture and animation techniques - from stop motion, cardboard animation to live action 3D. As still the most promising hungarian talent, he's been working all over the world from Bombay to Barcelona - where he spends most of his time.

Charley Stadler

KÁROLY UJJ MÉSZÁROS

Karoly as a small town boy had little knowledge of his future as a teenager, so to gain some time to think he enrolled the Budapest University of Economics, where he finally met an extraordinary artform – film.
That fatal meeting made him a filmgeek, and wrote his final thesis on American film industry...
With his university degree he started as a production runner, then soon became a location manager. He joined Saatchi and Saatchi Budapest as a production assistant. He was one of the first freelancer agency producers of Hungary, he worked for almost all the major international network agencies in Hungary.
He never gave up his ambition to become a director. His weird sense of humor and emotional touch can be witnessed in his more than 150 commercials, and also in his 10 shortfilms that won several national and international awards.
His relentlessness and persistance finally made possible for him to shoot his first feature film, Liza, the Fox-fairy, a funny fairy tale for grown ups, that will be premiered in 2013.
