Head of Grading

Bertie started out in production in Los Angeles but soon saw the light, and the color, and switched cities and teams by moving to San Francisco and becoming a world-class colorist. From San Francisco it was onwards and eastwards to New York. While he was in the big apple Bertie worked his socks off at RiOT and Post Perfect. Once he’d thoroughly exhausted the local colour he hightailed it north to Technicolor/MPC in Toronto. Today, Bertie lives in Amsterdam with his family and works with his other family at Darlings.

Julian Hancock

Head of Editing

Always a precocious young darling of a lad, Dougy-Fresh got his start editing the critically acclaimed, school production of “The Killer Picnic Hamper”. It wasn’t long after that auspicious beginning that Doug landed a summer job at London’s famous Whitehouse Post Production studios. Never one to pass up an opportunity, Doug set to fetching cucumber sandwiches for the chance to learn from the greats. Doug was a natural editor and in no time was cutting alongside his mentors Jinx Godfrey, Kevin Wheelan, Jono Griffith, Russel Icke and John Smith. Over the last fifteen years Doug’s innate knack for story, timing and collaboration has made his reputation for him. He’s even been known to join directors on set as an accomplished cameraman. Nothing gives him more pleasure seeing a project seamlessly through the trials production and post. It was this love of all aspects of his craft that led Doug to found Darlings with Okkie – A kindred spirit and true friend.

Robert Okker

Head of VFX

When he was a young darling Okkie had a moment of profound awakening. As soon as he saw the T1000 having a literal meltdown in Terminator 2, he knew he had found his calling: It was 3D or die trying. As soon as Okkie was old enough he got himself a job, so he’d have cash to spend on 3D study books (and skateboards). His total devotion to 3D saw him score an internship with VFX magician Reinier van Brummelen. Under Brummelen’s tutelage for the next four years Okkie had the time of his life, soaking up everything he could. After his internship he set to work mastering the arts soft imaging and 3D rendering. Okkie was quickly snapped up by Postoffice where he was the only 3D guy on deck. If he hadn’t met Doug it would have been a cold and lonely existence. Instead they decided to ride off in to the sunset together and so, Darlings was born.
