72andSunny Amsterdam hires Mindshare’s Sarah Sutton to focus on even bigger comms ideas

por Maud Largeaud , AdForum

Sutton joins from Mindshare Worldwide Amsterdam, where she was Managing Partner in charge of Nike across the EMEA region. Using her experience at Nike and beyond, Sutton will focus on ensuring that sharp media and innovation deliver maximum impact in culture across the office’s creative output.

In her new role, which she takes up on 24 June, Sutton leads a team of communication strategists as part of the agency’s holistic strategy discipline. She reports to Stephanie Feeney, Executive Strategy Director and Partner.

Feeney said: “Sarah is one of the best in the world at marrying media and message and using smart thinking to bring ideas closer to the people they’re intended to move. The relentless pursuit of the biggest, most modern ideas in marketing is her hallmark, and we can’t wait to see this ripple through our culture.”

Sutton said: “As the world becomes more connected and people become increasingly more detached from one another, I’m keen to understand how we as an industry can help change behaviour and make a positive difference for people and the world we inhabit. It doesn’t always have to be about purpose, but where possible we should aim to entertain, educate and improve lives. A big job for all of us, but it’s one that I’m still really excited about.”

72andSunny already embeds communication strategists in creative teams but Sutton’s brief is to drive big comms ideas thinking into creative development across the whole agency, its clients, and all partners and collaborators.

During 11 years working with Nike at Mindshare, Sarah picked up many awards – most recently a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in the Social and Influencer Entertainment category for ‘Nothing Beats a Londoner’, as well as two Gold Lions for the same campaign.

Before moving to Amsterdam, Sutton was Joint Head of Strategy at Mindshare Worldwide in London where she worked on Nike, Marks & Spencer, Mazda, Unilever, First Direct, ITV, Pepsi and Capcom. She was also previously at Carat.
