Meet the Interns: Goodby Silverstein & Partners' Taylor Bell

Tell us about your internship, what are your main responsibilities?

My internship has been amazing. Goodby Silverstein & Partners has given me the
opportunity to get my hands on a variety of accounts. I’ve crafted competitive decks,
managed the social accounts of two big brands and learned how to navigate research tools
such as Simmons.

Do you have a dream account or brand you’d like to work with? Which one?

My dream account is Adidas. Adidas is my overall-favorite brand from quality to price point.
They integrate current and futuristic fashion trends while still keeping their originality. They
put out amazing content, and I would love to be a part of all of that!

Talk to us about the culture in your office, how has it impacted your internship?

The culture in my office is thriving. Everyone here is very knowledgeable and passionate
about their work. GS&P employees are very confident and think big! They don’t put limits on
their creative abilities, and they are allowed and encouraged to think freely. This has made
me more eager to learn new things and has increased my confidence in my ideas and work.

What have you learned about the advertising industry that surprised you?

Although there are many diversity programs that strive to change the climate in advertising,
sadly, the ad industry is still lacking in diversity. I’ll never forget the moment when I was in a
meeting and realized my supervisor and I were the only WOC in the room. On the bright side,
I feel like people do notice this and go out of their way to make sure that women and POC
are heard. But we still lack opportunities to get through the door due to nepotism.

Choose a current popular advertising trend and tell us what’s interesting about it:

Utilizing influencers in ad campaigns is a trend that I am obsessed with; it has changed the
atmosphere of social media. Advertisers today can reach not only a broader audience but
also a niche audience, one that is more likely to take action and create conversation.

Imagine your dream job, where are you, what does a day-to-day look like?

My dream job is doing something that allows me to create moments and memories for
people. My day-to-day would be thinking of ideas and concepts that make others feel happy
and enjoy life.

Are you considering another internship, or looking for jobs now? What are your next
steps?

I just recently graduated, so I am looking for apprenticeships and entry-level positions in the
ad, marketing and PR industries.

What is your favorite ad of all time?

My favorite ad of all time is the infamous Budweiser “Whassup” ad. At the time it was
made, I was very young and had no idea of the context of the ad, but I do remember it
reshaping my childhood culture. “Whassup” was part of every conversation at that time. The
phrase appeared in movies and in everyday-life conversations.
