Radio silence

Hearing loss has an impact on quality of life. It’s estimated that around 15% of the world’s population suffer from the problem. In the United Arab Emirates it affects some 500,000 people, although many sufferers don’t notice at first, because one of the early symptoms is an inability to hear only deep or high frequency sounds.
To encourage people to check their hearing, the Hearlife Clinic created radio spots in the form of mock animal documentaries. The spots feature animals such as crickets or dolphins making sounds in the range that’s hardest to hear. People listening to the radio in their cars, bathrooms and kitchens were able to determine whether they could hear the noises concerned. If not, they were gently invited to get in touch with Hearlife and break the silence.
