Meet the Interns: Eventive Marketing's Mina Robinson

Tell us about your internship, what are your main responsibilities?

I am completing a post-grad internship at Eventive Marketing with their strategy team. My day to day includes assisting the strategic initiatives of the agency. I have gotten to work with almost all of our clients in some capacity and learn a lot from my mentors. As experiential marketing continues to grow, learning from a company that has been in the industry for 25 years as given me great perspective. Plus! The other interns and I got to travel to two of our client sites in New Jersey and Connecticut to see our activations in person.

Do you have a dream account or brand you’d like to work with? Which one?

I’m inspired by new and growing brands, new companies with unique offerings inspire me. I would like to see the possibilities for brands to step into the experiential space. Some larger brands that I dream of working with are Netflix (especially my favorite show Stranger Things), Apple, Adidas, and some in house agencies like Spotify or Glossier.

Talk to us about the culture in your office, how has it impacted your internship?

When I tell people about my agency, I lead with the people. Working at a smaller shop means I know the entire team – which was a big priority for me. Next, I follow up with saying my supervisor and director are both women and our bathroom comes fully stocked with feminine products. These seem like small details, but it’s part of what made my transition so easy. My entire team continues to lookout for my best interest and preparing me for the next step of my career.

What have you learned about the advertising industry that surprised you?

Not that it necessarily surprised me, but the amount of relationships formed in our industry continues to amaze me. Eventive works with a variety of vendors, events, and other agencies across the countries and our team members know them all. It’s been great to meet with vendors, attend other promotional events, and try new products. Seeing my research and work implemented is very rewarding.

Choose a current popular advertising trend and tell us what’s interesting about it:

I’m inspired by a lot of different trends in advertising. I think that Cause Advertising really defines the time. Consumers are aware of their purchasing power and choose to support the brands that share their values. I’ve definitely seen this in action at Eventive, our clients want to connect with consumers in positive meaningful ways. This has been really inspiring for me.

Imagine your dream job, where are you, what does a day-to-day look like?

My dream job is working with a team and clients that inspire me. This industry is continuing to change and evolve and I’m ready to adapt with it. Outside of advertising, I am really interested in community development. My dream job includes planning events to showcase individuals and ideas and give them a platform. Whether it’s an agency that gives me the potential to explore this or a new venture – I know it’s in my future.

Are you considering another internship, or looking for jobs now? What are your next steps?

I am currently seeking for full-time positions in Strategy or Experiential Production.

What is your favorite ad of all time?

My favorite ad of all time is actually pretty recent, I love the Welcome Home ad directed by Spike Jonze and starring FKA twigs. Projects like this continue to inspire me about the intersections of art, music, brands, and advertising.
