Alex Lubar has been a fixture at McCann for a decade, rising from CMO for North America, then global CMO, to CEO of the London office and president of the Asia Pacific Region and president of North America. Now, DDB has lured Lubar away from the IPG network, naming him president and chief operating officer of DDB Worldwide, a new role at the Omnicom agency. The appointment is a strategic move to further strengthen the DDB global leadership team under CEO Marty O’Halloran, who was elevated to the position in 2020. Lubar said that it was always a dream to work for DDB, saying that it has “one of the best creative histories of any of the big agencies…I started out at Rapp Collins 20-plus years ago, and we were on the floor below DDB. And I always, always looked up at DDB and saw the guys coming in and thought, ‘God, I’d love to work there one day.’ And so here’s the chance,” Lubar told Adweek. For DDB, getting a talent like Lubar helps solidify the creative edge for the agency, and O’Halloran said his hiring will open opportunities to encourage more collaboration between the 149 offices around the world.
